Once Britain's best kept secret, Bletchley Park is a heritage site full of exhibitions and activities where you can learn how Enigma and Lorenz codes were broken during World War II.
Bletchley Park is a place of exceptional historical importance. It remains highly relevant to our lives today and for the future. It is the home of British codebreaking and a birthplace of modern information technology. It played a major role in World War Two, producing secret intelligence which had a direct and profound influence on the outcome of the conflict.
The true story of Bletchley Park is more incredible than fiction. In a desperate race against time, the WW2 code breaker's mission was to crack the German Enigma machine and decode other seemingly unbreakable messages. Their reward? 'Ultra" Intelligence that saved the Allied convoys carrying essential supplies from U Boat wolf packs, which were continuously on the prowl.
Bletchley Park was Churchill's secret passion and he referred to the code breakers as "the geese that laid the golden eggs and never cackled".
Please be aware that a visit to Bletchley Park involves both indoor and outdoor activities. Please wear sensible clothing and footwear to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.
There is reasonable wheelchair access to most areas of Bletchley Park. Disabled lifts are situated in Block B museum and toilet facilities are located around the park in Block C visitor centre, adjacent to the Mansion and in Block B.
